Nextel is now providing NASCAR fans with a hand held device that allows fans at the track to receive a wealth of information about their favorite drivers and cars via a wireless connection. The Nextel FanView hand held device allows fans to capture audio and video across the entire 2.5 GHz wireless spectrum.
Fans will be able to view in car video feeds, listen to chatter between driver and pits and receive official time and scoring info. The device is not something fans can purchase, they are rented at the track for $50 per day or $70 for weekends.
I would image the hard part for fans will be actually getting one at the track. I would also hope the device is small enough for one hand use. If not you may have to decide between your beer or your in car camera footage. Many fans may well choose the beer.
