New Device Turns Television into a Wirless Multimedia Viewer

I'm always excited about gadgets that specialize in breaking down the walls between our personal computers and television sets. As such, I was pretty interested in AverMedia's latest goodie, the AVerLife ExtremeVision, a multifunctional wireless USB media player that allows users to view video, photos and audio directly on their TV. The device also plays back online content from some of the most popular sites including YouTube, Facebook and Google. It can even wirelessly access files from multiple storage devices providing a variety of entertainment options.

Installation and navigation should be a breeze thanks to a user-friendly interface while keyboard and mouse support allow access to the built-in browser to surf the web rather than having to use a remote control or cobby on-screen keyboard.

The AVerLife ExtremeVision includes two USB ports, e-SATA as well as 10/100/1000 Ethernet. It supports 1080p HD video and features simultaneous playback options for photos and music as well as the ability to allow other entertainment devices to share content across a home network. This feature eliminates the need to transfer content; simply set up the network to begin wirelessly accessing files from multiple PC storage devices. Finally users also can add RSS feeds and internet radio stations with its Favorite Channel Library option. The GoTo function enables users to begin watching a video at any point of the video.

The AVerLife ExtremeVision retails for $209.99. For more info, click here.
