My iPhone 3G S is Here and it is Worth It

First, the speed issue. Apple has the S stands for "speed", and many reviewers are saying that the 3G S is certainly snappier. Snappier is not the correct adjective here; the 3G S is downright screaming compared to the 3G. Applications that used to take 10 - 20 seconds to load (games mostly) now take 5. Websites are screaming fast in Safari as well. I was able to load this page in a flat 3 seconds on the 3G S. My desktop took 4, and my iPhone 3G used to take 10. Shaving off a few seconds here and there does not seem like a big deal, but those seconds will add up, and the result is more productivity and more battery life because I am not waiting around.
Second, I can use spotlight as a launcher. I used to jailbreak my old iPhones just so I can have a launcher, background apps, and themes. Using spotlight, I can launch any application on the phone, including any apps that go past the 11 home screen limit (yes - your only limit to app storage on the iPhone 3G S is your drive space). I also have ready access to background notifications. Soon AOL IM and Facebook will notify via the background notifications, and I will be a happy camper. Yes, I do not have themes, but I can probably live with that.
Lastly the camera rocks. It has 3MP resolution, auto-focus, and the ability to capture video. The photos from the camera are just better. I do not have a dedicated digital camera (that is my wife's toy), so an improved iPhone camera is a blessing.
Granted, the camera. background applications, and launcher are features the iPhone should have had from the beginning, and maybe that is the best thing to say about the iPhone 3G S in general - it is the iPhone done right. From the camera features to the fact that I finally (FINALLY!!!!) get to use Bluetooth headphones through a robust A2DP profile, there isn't a thing I do not like about the iPhone 3G S. If you received yours today, let me know how it is working out in the comments!
