Music In The Walls!

Music In The Walls!

As high-tech as I am in some areas, it'd probably amaze you to learn that up until my recent move, my audio system was in the stone age. We had a small stereo in the living room, a boom box in my daughter's room, and whatever computer speakers I managed to accumulate over the years. Everything separate and disconnected. And let's not even discuss the pre-1990 TVs we still own and use.

In my new house, I have a Russound A-BUS system. Common areas, the master bedroom, the master bathroom, my wife's office and the bonus room-my office-all have speakers embedded in the walls. Near the light switches, there are these funny little wall controls (pictured) that allow you to turn on the system and select which source to pull the audio from.
Seeing as we're still moving stuff from our old house, and audio/visual is relatively low on everyone else's wish list, there's nothing hooked up to the main system. Down in the family room, there is an A-H484 unit which allows me to send four different audio sources to 8 different rooms! Just for kicks, I plugged in my iPod to the system. Worked!

In my office there is this little wall jack with what appeared to be stereo component input jacks. Being curious, I plugged my MacBook into it. Now I have iTunes coming out my walls! Cool!

If you have experience with this or a similar system, I'd love to see your feedback in the comments.
