Some may think that TiVo has the corner on the DVR market - that is because they do. With every cable company and satellite company pushing their own DVR tech, is there any room for another? Moxi thinks so. Moxi is releasing their HD DVR soon, and it will need to fight hard to survive.
What will it bring to the fight? The Moxi HD DVR will have dual HD tuners, a 500GB hard drive, Cable Card support, HDMI and Component output, and an eSATA port for expandability. Truth be told, it sounds like a great device. With the included ethernet compatibility, you will be able to stream internet video and audio services.
The Moxi HD DVR will also serve as a media extender for your PC. This, of course, will be its selling point. If it can do the media serving part right and not charge the user the TiVo monthly fee, then the Moxi HD DVR might just have a chance. The device will hit the streets soon, but there is no word yet on price.
