More Convergence, Anyone? Fuji FinePix Camera Plays Games
Filed in archive Cameras by Eric Hanson on June 14, 2006

seems to have tossed in to make a pretty good lightweight camera with decent picture-taking abilities stand out a bit from the competition: you can play games on it. Don't get too excited: while the 3" LCD probably makes it pretty easy to see what you're doing, there are only four options and it's not like you can go and add additional ones from your favorite game vendor - nor are the controls on the camera really built for serious gaming - but the concept does make me think about the possibilities. We're (hopefully) headed towards a point where your cell phone, palmtop, portable gaming device, portable audio/video device, camera and video camera are all the same small, portable device, but the steps in between are interesting. FujiFilm might have included the games to keep your mind occupied while you wait for the family to gather for a portrait, but the potential for what those games could mean in the future is enormous.
