If you have an alarm installed on your home a new service form Alarms.com allows you to monitor and control your home alarm from your PDA via their website and your WiFi connection. Most WiFi devices are able to function with the service including laptops and blackberry.
The service will also alert you when there is a power outage and when your alarm goes off. Presumably, so you can notify the police or call a neighbor to see if your cat set off your alarm or a burglar is stealing your plasma TV.
