Mini But Mighty Drives by Toshiba are on the Horizon

The netbook craze is staring to get a little bit overwhelming. Just about everyone and their brother is producing one of the diminutive little buggers, and most of them are absolutely unimpressive. It simply is tough to get real performance out of such little machines. This will be changing soon if Toshiba has anything to do with it. Their new series of micro-hard drives are anything but unimpressive.

The Toshiba's MKxx29GSG series hard drives are a small but mighty group of storage devices. They are 1.8 inch, 5400 RPM drives that will have storage capacities up to 250 GB. That is going to make for some quick and large netbook hard drives, and some monstrous iPods and Zunes.

Mass production of the drives is set for November, so you should be seeing them in devices sometime early next year. The Toshiba's MKxx29GSG drives, and the addition of smaller, cooler, and more powerful Atom CPU's is fundamentally going to change the way we compute.
