Microsoft's Blue Track says good bye to the Laser?

Microsoft
Microsoft has recently been running a weird ad campaign recently with poster-like posts that have a weird logo plus writing that reads: "Say Goodbye to Laser". Considering that a lot of our technology is based on lasers, I can't imagine saying good-bye to them anytime soon.

However, many have speculated that this "laser sendoff" could be a reference to a new type of technology for laser mice. In fact, there is an MS Explorer Mini Mouse with "Blue Track" technology at Amazon.de. Apparently the Blue Track uses a blue LED with a wide-angle lens that can work on more surfaces than laser or even optical.

I suppose that we will find out on 9.9.08, the date that Microsoft is saying goodbye. If there are a whole slew of Blue Track mice available then, then the rumors are true.
