Microsoft Introduces Windows Mobile 6
PC World has some details on the new features of Windows Mobile 6, formerly known as Crossbow, recently unveiled at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona. While it doesn't sound like there will be much difference between versions 5 and 6, PC World did discover that the new version is blurring Microsoft's traditional lines between types of devices: previous versions of Windows Mobile distinguished between Pocket PCs and Smartphones, with the difference seeming to be whether or not your device could also call people. Windows Mobile 6, however, draws the line at touch screens - if your device has one, it's going to run the Pro version. I gather this change is another sign that a PDA is only worth producing these days if it can double as a phone, another example of beauteous convergence.
