News related to Apple and defective batteries on their products are not something new, and to prove that fact Apple has admitted that some of their newest batteries might have "performance issues" - so in case your purchased a Macbook or MacBook Pro between February 2006 and April 2007 the best thing to do is a software update that is suppose to take care of the silly problems.
Link to the Software (Battery) Update
Here are some symptoms that will help you knowing if your (battery) Mac is affected:
- non-recognition of the battery, causing an "X" to appear in the battery icon in the Finder menu bar
- failed attempts to charge the battery when the computer is plugged into AC power
- exhibition of a low charge capacity/runtime when using a fully charged battery with a battery cycle count of less than 300
- visibly deformed battery packs
If you still have problems after doing the software update just go to an apple store to replace the battery and get the problem solved.
