Tech News Around The World
by Shane McGlaun on April 5, 2006

Researchers at the University of Arizona are working on a new type of glasses that use electrodes to alter LCDs to bring objects into focus replacing the need for bifocal lenses. As you can see in the image above, they look quite geeky at the moment. The glasses are battery powered, which could be an issue. I would hate to think of my grandmother having to remember to charge her glasses before her daily 5am trips to the coffee shop. Should these things come to market there is no word if they will be available in horn rim frames for the old school geeks, but perhaps they will include a pocket protector.
