PCMag has come up with a nice list of laptops that will work perfectly for doing every day tasks, and even more. Sure, you won't see the latest "power houses" in here, we're talking about affordable laptops - under $1000 - that provide a good experience.

The first recommendation goes for Dell Inspiron 6000 MCE (the one in the image) that carries the cheapest price = $874. Now including the Microsoft Media Center 2005 OS, the praises at PCMag don't end. Featuring a Pentium M725 processor @ 1,6Ghz, 512RAM, 80GB among other things, it's a nice option for a price/quality ratio.
