LaCie Drive Lockdown
Got a lot of important digital document that you'd prefer to keep away from prying eyes? Something like company documents, state secrets or that really cool idea you had for a hydrogen bomb using water, Baking sodalinks and cooking oil? External hard drive maker LaCie has a solution for you: an external drive that comes in 160, 320 or 500 GB capacities with three layers of security to help keep your work safe (and maybe keep you from being the scapegoat when that ugly security leak gets discovered in a few months):

  • Layer 1: A fingerprint scanner that will recognize up to five users. Just make sure no one's cutting off your finger tips in the middle of the night and you're golden.

  • Layer 2: A firmware lock that prevents the drive from operating if someone removes it from its external housing and plugs it into another computer.

  • Layer 3: A chain lock port, so you can tether the drive to the nearest immobile object and not worry about it wandering away without some effort.

Connecting to your computer via a USB 2.0 connection, the LaCie SAFE Desktop Hard Drive prices from $149.99 to $299.99.
