Filed in archive Cameras by Michael Pick on September 3, 2007
JVC's latest addition to its high definition video camera line-up brings with it the ability to record up to five hours of crystal clear HD video to its built in 60GB hard drive. The GZ-HD3 Everio, which the Engadget team managed to take a close-up look at, looks like it might be an excellent solution for the prosumer videographer.

As the official JVC website explains:
"The HD Everio GZ-HD3 offers HD (High Definition) recording with 1440x1080i resolution. These HD pictures are extremely fine and detailed, containing 4.5 times the visual information of conventional SD (Standard Definition) pictures. With a 60GB built-in hard disk drive you can record up to seven hours of HD video (SP mode), plus you get two additional recording modes to select according to your requirements."

Packing this much storage, along with 3CCD truly HD capabilities into a relatively lightweight camera is no mean feat, and this is likely to appeal to those looking to be shot of sorting through tapes once and for all, while still keeping the quality of footage taken up there with the best of them.
