Iris Web Browser Promises Safari-Like Experience on Windows Mobile

Our last tidbit of information from MWC (Mobile World Conference) is about Iris, a new WebKit-based web browser that is making some hefty promises. Finally out of beta, Iris is hitting Windows Mobile devices amid some pretty crowded competition. There is Fennec, the Firefox portable solution, Opera Mini, and of course, Internet Explorer. What makes Iris different is that it is based on the same browsing engine that Apple Safari is based on, and makes the same "complete Internet" promises.
Other feathers that Iris is promising include: a fast WebKit JavaScript engine, full touchscreen control with zoom, multiple tabs for viewing, customizable interface (skins) and RSS/XML plug-in support including Flash Lite support. Actually, if it can do all that, it isn't like Safari, it is actually better than Safari. Many people have said that the secret behind the Apple iPhone's phenomenal success was in fact the web browser. If that is the truth, then the Iris Browser may be what is needed to give WinMo phones a the push they need to be "cool again"
The Iris WebKit browser is available now for download. If your phone is sporting Windows Mobile 6.0 or later, you might want to give Iris a try. Let me know how it works out for you will you?
