Iomega: External RAID Machine
One of the things any backup system worth its salt needs is redundancy: if the first backup fails, having another copy around is a must. And for laptop users, who tend to sacrifice hard drive space for portability, having a good backup system that's also a large backup system is a must. Storage manufacturer Iomega addresses both problems with the oddly named UltraMax Desktop Hard Drive, a 5 pound external drive with Firewire and USB connections that has two 320 GB hard drives that the user can format in one of two RAID modes: RAID 0 for extra capacity (the system treats both drives as one large 640 GB drive) or RAID 1 for extra security (the system automatically copies the contents of one drive over to the other in case of drive failure). With the largest hard drives topping out at 750 GB, having this much storage capacity in an external drive is frankly, well, huge.
