HTC Stops Picking on iPhone and Goes After Blackberry With the Snap

Many phone manufacturers have started to beg, borrow, and steal from the iPhone when it comes to hardware and UI design. But with the new Snap, HTC seems to be taking a shot over Research in Motion's bow. I'm not sure if the HTC Snap was meant to be a Blackberry clone, but it sure seems that way.
Yes it is true, windows mobile phones drastically need a face lift, and I am sure that a QWERTY keyboard and trackball combo makes the windows mobile experience very usable, but it does seem suspect to have a Curve Clone. The HTC Snap currently runs Windows Mobile 6.1, but it seems designed to handle 6.5 and 7.0 when it officially hits the market. The Snap features a 528MhZ Qualcomm CPU, 2.4-inch TFT-LCD, 192 MB of RAM, HSDPA/WCDMA radio, 2MP camera, and full Bluetooth support. What makes the phone stand out is HTC's "inner circle", which is a fancy way of saying email filtering based on a "friend list."
HTC does tend to make solid phones, and the Blackberry Curve/Bold/Pearl is a proven design. I suppose bringing the two together does make sense, it is just a shame that the phone has to come with the Windows Mobile OS. There is no official carrier support yet, but I am sure announcements will be coming soon.
