Honey I Shrunk the PC!
Filed in archive Desktops by Shane McGlaun on June 9, 2006

Looking much more like an external DVD drive than a complete PC, Shuttle showed off it's newest small form factor PC at the geek mecca that is Computex. The specs are not to gamer standards, but there is no denying the appeal of a complete computer this small. Inside is a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo CPU, slot load DVD burner and a 3.5" HDD. Power is provided by an external 120W PSU. Somewhere inside the lilliputian system is some RAM as well.
Shuttle chose the 3.5" hard drive over the smaller laptop style to improve storage in expectations that the new XPC will see use in a lot of living rooms as media centers. Recording digital video takes up lots of space and the 3.5" drives can go all the way to 500GB. Interestingly, the system has an internal USB port so you can plug the USB dongle
to your theater remote in internally on the system and not have to look at a zit on the face of the clean looking system.
