Dailytech is Reporting that holographic media and drives are slated to be released this year. Reportedly, InPhase technologies has media that can hold 515GB of data per square inch of disk space.
The company is planning 300GB drives and media for launch later this year that sports a slowish 20MB/sec. The second generation of holographic drives will be 800GB to 1.6TB capacities. No pricing has been announced.
