Google Nexus One Gets Snubbed by Verizon and Sprint

In a surprising move, Google says it will no longer be bringing a version of its popular Nexus One smartphone to Sprint, just two months after announcing a forthcoming release on the network.
So was it Google's decision to pull the plug on the arrangement? Actually, no. The turnaround marks the second U.S. carrier to back away from the device so far. Last month Verizon said it was scrapping plans to bring the Nexus One to its network as well!
Naturally this latest wireless decision represents another major blow as Google's tries to carve a role for itself in the smartphone space and compete with rival Apple (after all, carriers are fighting to get the iPhone on their networks).
By offering their smartphone directly to consumers, without a wireless plan, Google attempted to establish a new model for pricing, marketing and distributing with the Nexus One.
Despite these latest blows, the Nexus One is currently and will remain available on T-Mobile and AT&T.
