Get Porn On Your Cellphone
Filed in archive Tech News Around The World by tiago on January 29, 2007

Telus (Canada's wireless phone company) has recently introduced the porn
industry into cellphones, subscribers of this network are able to download photos and videos of pornographic content for an average price of $4. This service was launched on 8 of January and so far there is no information if it is a hit or not, the reason for the new launch is that people from Telus can track what the customers visit and search on the net, and it seems like most people had a big interest in the adult content, so instead of making customers visit a website they just offer the content in a more easily accessible way.
We can't see at an individual level, but we can tell on an aggregate level if they're going to Google or Canoe, and we could see they were heading to adult-oriented Web sites. There is a segment of the population that is interested in that content.
So far Telus seems to be the only company offering this kind of service, but you can expect more companies to jump on the bandwagon in the near future.
