The Peterborough Museum is hosting an exhibition
entitled just that - Gadgetisc - this coming week, starting on February 11th, and running all the way to the 19th. "Get the low-down on gadgets and have a go at making your own", the museum boasts, whilst calling all kids to the show.
Peterborough.net has an article on the exhibition.
The exhibition features, amongst a load of other cool stuff, a self-pouring teapot, a 1920's perfect-cup-of-tea-machine, and a portable water closet from 1844. Those who thought gadgets are products of the 20th century will have to think again, I'm afraid - there are things here you really wouldn't believe.
"This fascinating and humorous exhibition will intrigue and amuse everyone. It is a testament to human ingenuity and resourcefulness - as well as being a great deal of fun!" comments by Stuart Orme - events officer.
As far as I'm concerned, a trip to this exhibition is a must for anyone who lives close enough, has the time, and a love for gadgets of all shapes and sizes - maybe someone will find the inspiration to take these old ideas and make them new again? Grandma and grandpa were smart people, you know.
