Free software on Windows.
Now, I'm not a fan of paying for things I don't have to, so this article about some of the high quality free software out there for Windows really strikes a chord.
It's often worth remembering that there are lots of quality applications that you don't have to buy (or copy from somewhere). Some of these look worth investigating.
Now, I just hope someone does a similar article for OS X.
