Forget Black iPod...How About BlackPod
Peter Misek, an analyst who last year successfully predicted a partnership between Intel and Blackberry maker Research In Motion (RIM), made another potentially blockbusting prediction on Friday: a partnership between RIM and Apple to create either an entirely new mobile device that used iPod and Blackberry technologies, or a new version of the Blackberry that included iTunes, Apple's highly popular music-playing software. The new product could be called the AppleBerry or MacBerry. Although the rumors are nothing more than exciting possibilities right now, Misek believes that the partnership makes sense because it allows both companies to expand into each other's market spaces.

The idea of high-powered communications device that stores and plays music is certainly compelling and definitely makes this rumored partnership sound like a logical proposition, especially if the end result is better designed than the disappointing Nokia ROKR. I, for one, certainly can't wait for that dream convergence device that replaces my cellphone and iPod with one new, shiny toy.
