For TV Viewers Change Is On The Way

Change is in the air my friends. While it's still cool to brag about your newest big screen television, numbers continue to prove that TV viewers are turning to their mobile devices for their fix in droves. Consider the following:
Active mobile video users grew by 57% to a staggering 17.6 million people between the fourth quarter of 2008 and 2009 (The Nielsen Company, 3/22/10)
53 percent of consumers have reported interest in services that allow them to seamlessly switch between multiple devices, such as PCs and smartphones, when watching their programs (QuickPlay Media, 3/23/10)
25% of UK mobile media users watch their mobile, TV and PC at the same time (Yahoo, 3/30/10)
Tiered pricing plans for mobile internet are inevitable, given the dramatic rate at which mobile data- and especially video – is expected to rise in the near future. In 2015, video will consist of 224,000 terabytes of data a month, representing a compound annual growth rate of 138% (Coda Research Consultancy, 3/31/10)
Companies like QuickPlay Media are already offering up programs such as these that allow users to view and juggle video across PCs, smartphones and other consumer electronic devices. Conclusion? Be afraid satellite and cable service providers, be very afraid!
