Filed in archive Storage Stuff by Chris Matier on June 13, 2008

According to the GreenDrive press release:
GreenDrives' average energy savings of 40% over comparable technologies could therefore result in substantial energy savings. If the forecasted 150 million external storage hard drives, utilizing roughly 2 billion watts per year leveraged GreenDrive technology, the resulting savings would be millions of kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year thereby reducing an enormous amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.
The Fantom GreenDrive also is designed to reduce the use of hazardous and Toxic
chemicals in its manufacturing plants and processes. This sounds like a good good deal. If I can get a quality external drive and save on energy costs while reducing my carbon footprint; I am all for it.
The Fantom GreenDrive is due out this June will be available in 500 GB and 1 TB models with pricing starting at $125.
