Face Recognition Mobile

Filed in archive Mobile by Michael Pick on November 13, 2007

Here in Japan the latest boom is for cameras that know when you're smiling, via built in face recognition. And now the same technology has made its way to mobile phones.

Face Recognition Mobile

The NEC N905 is a pretty awesome piece of mobile kit - techfresh has the lowdown:
"works on GSM and W-CDMAlinks frequencies. The clamshell is loaded with a large 3 inch internal display sporting a 480×854 resolution, a monochrome external display for caller ID and supports for HSDPA and GPS. The N905i features a 5MP digital camera with face detection that can detect 3 persons simultaneously. It can record video in H.264 format in VGA resolution at 30 fps. The phone comes with Yamaha sound engine for enhanced audio playback. Available in red, black, white and pink"

That's a whole lot of features. Should put Japanese iPhone envy to rest for a while.
