Evo PC Console an Oxymoron?

This is a bit strange, but interesting none the less. Evo is getting ready to sell a PC media center and PC gaming console this Octoberlinks. That's right, I said PC gaming console. The console will ship with Akimbo video on demand application installed for media playback. The story I read doesn't specify the computer OS that the Evo console will use. I would assume that if they intend to aim at the main stream PC games market that the device will be running some sort of Windows operating system.

The graphics power for the Evo console will come from an ATI X1600 Pro from Sapphire sporting a HDMI out connector. I am here to tell you that an X1600 Pro is no where near cutting edge. If you buy one, be prepared to not be able to run all the eye candy on some of the latest game like Fear and Oblivion. The MSRP for the Evo console is $679.99 and it is set to go on sale October 20 this year.
