Evening Standard: British Getting Ripped off on Gadget Prices

As reported by This Is Money, the Evening standard newspaper in London just finished an investigation where they found that electronics companies are charging British consumers the equivalent of hundreds of dollars more than their American counterparts for the same device, whether it be the PSP in 2004 or Windows Vista in 2007, to the point where it seems to be worthwhile for Britons to take a trip to the US to buy the devices they're looking for.

I find it interesting companies have been able to manage higher prices in the UK without any backlash from consumers. It's possible people there had the same assumption that I do – it's not made there, so it's going to cost more. However, since most of the gadgets used in America aren't made here either, I could see how that argument (or any argument about currency differences, which Bill Gates used to justify the higher cost of Vista) wouldn't hold much water.
