Have you ever tried to carefully move a character along a tight line or sneak around a corner only to have clumsy hand-based controls screw everything up, making you wish the comptuer would just follow the instructions in your head, which are probably coming out of your mouth at a high volume, accompanied by curses? Of course you have. Well, we've got a bit to wait, but the technology is there, thanks to a company called Emotiv Systems. Emotiv, which developed the brainwave-reading helmet shown in the picture, released a software development kit yesterday so companies can start to work on games that will work with the helmet. It looks like there's some very technology coming into being here - those days of computer peripheral control may be over sooner than you think.
