Digital Reader Sales Break Records

Digital Reader Sales Break Records

Now that the Holiday shopping season is finally winding down, retailers are releasing their statistics, some of which are quite surprising and most of which are quite favorable to gadgets.

Take for example Amazon.com's digital reader, the Kindle. Amazon reports that on Christmas day, for the first time in its history, it sold more digital books than physical books. They also report that the Kindle is the most gifted item in the site's history.

At present the Kindle has about 60% of the US digital reader market, with Sony's Reader earning around 35%. These numbers are expected to change come January, when Barnes & Noble's own reader, the Nook, is officially released.
