Dell and AMD Decide to Shack Up
At long last, Dell has woken up to the idea that making computers with AMD processors isn't such a bad idea: the company announced yesterday that they're continuing the relationship with AMD they started last quarter and will Start producing desktops with AMD processors in September and server-class computers by the end of the year. Regardless about how you feel about AMD versus Intel, having the option of buying either one from Dell is a smart move on their part. Dell plans to start using AMD processors in the low-end Dimension desktops, so don't expect anything too impressive at the start, but I have no doubt the company will expand offerings to match the rest of their line.
