Das Keyboard The Best on the Planet?

Filed in archive Peripherals by Dameon Welch-Abemathy on July 18, 2008

One of my favorite keyboards of all time is the original IBM AT keyboards. They were built like a tank and clicked when you pushed the keys. Pity they don't make keyboards like that anymore.

Or do they? Das Keyboard claims they have the best keyboard on the planet. Period. What's their unique selling proposition? What makes their keyboard worth $129?

It boils down to the fact they use mechanical switches for their keys. Those switches provide the "click" those IBM AT keyboards were so famous for as well as great tactile feedback. They also offer a model devoid of any actual markings so you can (theoretically) learn to touch-type better.
