Canon PowerShot TX1

Canon PowerShot TX1

I don't have another shot of Canon's PowerShot TX1, but let me tell you something, it is able to fold up its display and lens into a metal plate the approximate size and shape of a deck of cards.

And yet the PowerShot TX1 can do so much. Canon's PowerShot TX1 is capable of shooting 7.1 Megapixel stills as well as 720p high-definition video in 16:9 format, at 30 frames per second nonetheless! It records via SD memory cards, including MMCplus cards.

It can even rip still shots from the movie footage! Now that is something! All this for about $500 USD, and Canon plans to ship the PowerShot TX1 next month.

    I am a TX-1 fanboy – did you ever try one out? My main love is that I take it everywhere so always ready to shoot stills or video.

    Pluses:
    * carry anywhere (+++)
    * good stabilisation
    * useful tiltable LCD for awkward shots
    * good photos
    * 720p HD video
    * 44k stereo.
    * Upgradable to pro features using CHDK http://chdk.wikia.com/
    * video is low compression (high quality images)

    Minuses:
    * need plenty of light (small cameras do)
    * takes time to learn to hold comfortably (small size)
    * LCD screen is small (need good eyesight and best to use your PC for reviewing).
    * video is low compression (fills up card far too quickly)
