Since the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray wars are officially over, there are many HD-DVD owners that are left with an obsolete system. It's nice to know that companies like Best Buy and others are offering something for these hard-luck cases.
Right now, Best Buy is giving away a complimentary $50 Best Buy gift card for each HD DVD player purchased before February 23, 2008. In fact, the company is working hard to track down people who purchased HD-DVD players from them, and plans to mail them the $50 card. HD-DVD purchasers also have the option of calling 1-888-BEST-BUY with their Best Buy proof of purchase to receive their reward.
Best Buy plans to give out $10 million in this campaign. They also intend to start a Best Buy Trade In site so that HD-DVD owners can receive an estimate on their HD-DVD player and collection.
