Atlona Wireless HDMI Adapter Has Great Intentions and Greater Potential

I have always thought that wireless USB (WUSB) has fantastic potential. The ability to stream any USB data over the air (including video) is fabulous. There have been some manufactures that have embraced wireless USB; IOGear has some great option, and Panasonic has a LCD monitor with WUSB built-in, but unfortunately, the list is very short. Altona has announced a HDMI or VGA converter called the HDAiR WUSB.
The Altona HDAiR has a basic set-up and simple premise. There is a PC dongle transmitter, a wireless receiver, and a video Port cradle that features a VGA and HDMI Port. This simple setup is capable of transmitting 720p HD video up to 30 feet away from the PC. This is a perfect solution for media hubs, streaming video to an entertainment center, or for wirelessly mirroring a computer monitor for a kiosk. There doesn't appear be any audio connectors, and Atlona does not mention sound support, so you are stuck with video, but the are a million cheap and easy solutions for wirelessly piping sound throughout your house.
Even though WUSB is great tech, it hasn't caught on, so don't expect a million of these types of devices. If you have one of the specific needs for this device, Atlona has made it available. The HDAiR is available now, and it runs $199.
