Ativa Wireless G USB Adapter

One of the things I miss about my old house is that it had Cat5E jacks in nearly every room. When you specify the kind of house that gets built, you can do these kinds of things. Sadly, moving into my new place-where I didn't get to specify Cat5 everywhere, means I have to resort to WiFi to get the family computers connected to the Internet.
Enter the Ativa Wireless G USB Adapter. What's the Ativa stuff? Well it's office depot's "house brand" for various items. Most of the Ativa networking gear is known to be made by Belkin.
The nice thing about this particular adapter was the price: $24.95. Did I get my money's worth? In a sense, I did because the adapter worked. However, the included software did not, at least with my XP install. However, once I loaded the drivers, Windows XP was able to manage the device settings successfully.
The other reason I bought this one was because it included a stand which the USB adapter plugs into. The cap that uncovers the USB receptacle on the WiFi dongle fits nicely on the end of the dongle. Keeps all the pieces together, which is a nice touch.
Can't say I would wholeheartedly recommend this product, however it did a serviceable job getting my wife's PC online. If you have any experiences with this product (or similar ones), please share them in the comments.
