Asus Goes for Slideshow in the W5Fe

One of the more intriguing additions to the Windows Vista is the sideshow, which gives you the ability to display applications on a separate screen – say, a small LCD built into the back of a notebook. ASUS became the first notebook maker to take advantage of this new feature with the $2,200 W5Fe, which features a 2.8" screen built into a hump on the back of the main screen. As Popular Mechanics points out, the whole idea behind SideShow is that you can access certainly information – like your email – without using the battery power necessary to power a full system startup, making SideShow a clever way to get some extra juice out of your laptop battery. Given the implementation on the W5Fe, however, I have a feeling this feature will be a love-it-or-hate-it option for most users.
