Apple’s Success Has Nokia Rebuilding the Ovi Store

Let’s face it; Apple has changed the very way the mobile industry operates with the stunning success of its iStore for purchasing applications. Nokia (and several other companies) have taken note by creating virtual application stores of their own. The trouble is, capturing the enthusiasm of Apple’s juggernaut has been easier said than done.
Just days after Nokia announced that it would be closing shops in London, New York and Chicago, they state that a new Ovi Store is already in the works, this one designed to better compete with Apple.
Nokia representatives state that the chorus of complaints from end-users are a driving force of the next version. According to rumors, the new store should feature “in-application payments”, a redesigned user interface that makes apps easier to discover and faster operation, and perhaps recommendations based on the app purchases of a user’s friends.
If everything goes according to plan, the new Ovi Store may be accessible this upcoming Spring.
