Apple’s Proposal Could Change Television Forever

Apple's been busting down electronics-boundaries left and right it seems so why not push for another miracle sale? According to the latest reports, Apple is in negotiation with CBS and Disney to offer television programming via an exclusive subscription.
Everyone knows Apple's got the iTunes market cornered but going after well-established cable and satellite providers is surely going to get messy. And indeed it appears that Apple's plan is to offer deals that would offer alternatives to cable or satellite TV subscriptions.
Apple's "ace in the hole" is to offer smaller, more customized plans. In other words instead of having a cable subscription with 300 channels to get a few networks you can't live without, Apple consumers could potentially have a less costly iTunes subscription with only half a dozen channels that they really want.
It's all just speculation at present, but companies like Time Warner are already crying foul, stating that they make money by bundling less popular networks with popular ones (bye-bye Home Shopping Network).
