Apple Rumors Are At the Breaking Point

Thank goodness for the World Wide Developers Conference; the deafening roar of Apple iPhone rumors were becoming a bit too much. None the less, WWDC begins today, and at the keynote address today Apple Fanboys and iPhone enthusiasts are expecting great things from the folks at the Cupertino Campus. With luck, I will find myself spending a few hundred dollars in the next couple of weeks on new and amazing iPhone hardware.
On the "for sure" list is the official announcement of the iPhone 3.0 firmware. I have been using the iPhone beta 3.0 since it has been released, and I am very pleased; the addition of Bluetooth headphone support in itself is enough to justify the upgrade. The other features such as landscape email and device search have just been icing on the apple pie. There is also some expected news of the final announcement of push notifications and MMS support. If iPhone to PC tethering is announced, then the mystery of missing phone features will be solved, and the iPhone will be the indisputable king of the smartphones.
On the "hopeful" list is new iPhone hardware. There are rumors of budget iPhone configurations with a paltry 4GB of storage, and super iPhones with 32GB of storage and a front facing VGA camera. If these rumors are true, then Apple will be announcing their complete dominance of the smartphone market. A budget model would make sure that everyone owns one, and the addition of live video conferencing and video chat would make the iPhone the best device in existence. Personally, I would be happy with a faster CPU and magnetic compass for true GPS support, and a black matte iPhone body to make my fingerprintsdisappear.
Lastly, on the "don't get your hopes up" list is the announcement of a Mac Tablet or uber-iPhone . If this were to happen, I would be instantly torn and probably dirt poor. Some are also specuating at various color models of the iPhone and possibly a carrier switch. I don't see either of those options happening at all, but as the week unfolds, be sure to check here for the latest Apple and iPhone news.
