Another Reason to Turn Off Auto Run
Ah, Windows Auto Run. People think you're evil, but you're just misunderstood! You don't really mean to get everyone in trouble all of the time! Like this new warning from Sophos about the W32/Liar-VB-A worm, a worm that spreads via the worm's built-in auto run file and the nearest available USB key or floppy drive. The worm itself doesn't do any damage - it's meant to spread information about HIV/AIDS - but that doesn't stop Sophos from getting up in arms about it (it is their job, after all). What's interesting about this new worm, of course, is that it's not meant to destroy your computer - it's all about the message. Given the anarchistic bent of most hackers, I'm a little surprised a worm like this one hasn't made the rounds a few times already.
