Developers have successfully booted linux on an iPhone. While this might not seem like a big deal, it represents a major leap forward in what the iPhone hardware is capable of. The iPhone hardware is amazing - that much is undeniable. Having a choice of operating systems on the iPhone would let the potential of the hardware be fulfilled.
As for the OpeniBoot project, developers have successfully booted Linux on the iPhone with the use of a wireless keyboard and mouse. At this time, many of the Device drivers work, the video drivers work, but the touch screen is not running yet. This project will continue and it will become even more amazing. Who knows, maybe in the future I won't simply be writing IntelliScreen, but I might be sporting a Linux penguin as well.
