You have all heard of the company that understands digital distribution and has a huge library of DRM free MP3s and movies for you to download to your portable media players right? They also have an app store that has a large and growing collection of useless applications and casual games that you can play on your portable device. Oh wait a minute, did you think I was talking about Apple and the iTunes Store? No, I am talking about Amazon. Amazon is storming the digital distribution scene, and they are not doing so bad. There latest offering is Digital Game downloads,
It started with the Music Store. Amazon now has millions of DRM free MP3s that work on any MP3 compatible device, and they are all in the $.79 range. They also have the Kindle Store that has hundreds of thousands of digital e-books for download. Now they are dabbling in the Games Store. A hotspot for casual gammers where you can download. Currently there are 600 games priced under $10 and they come with a 30 minute try before you buy ability (wouldn't that be nice on the App Store),
With music, books, movies, and games, Amazon is doing a lot right for digital minded folks. It will be interesting to see if Apple can maintain their strangle-hold on these industries with sleeping giants like Amazon sneaking up behind them.
