Airports Charging For Power

Nice to see CNN give some recognition to the fact that power, or lack thereof, makes a huge difference in what airport you might choose to go through. Some airports are experimenting with charging for the privilege of plugging in.
My feeling is that power is a bit like water fountains and the bathroom: it should be free. We pay enough to travel that it seems almost an insult to have to pay for the basics. It's insulting to have to pay $10 to use the Internet for a couple of hours at some airports, too.
At least with the cell phone charging stations I've seen, they provide at least some value by providing vendor-specific charging plugs. Maybe these airports can figure out some other value to provide with the juice-up so paying for it won't be so insulting?
