The Aegis Padlock drive contains a keypad that requires the user to enter in a physical PIN before the data on the drive can be accessed. I like this solution because it is platform independent. Currently, I have to have two separate encryption programs (one Mac one Windows) and duplicates of my data. It is a royal pain (if you know a solution, I would love to hear it), but this is not a problem with the Aegis drive. Drive side encryption comes in both AES-128 or 256 bit (depending on cost), and the drive itself comes in 250GB, 320GB and 500GB capacities. What I like, is that an administrator can create user accounts for the drive and assign PINs. This allows tiered security so that some clients can access certain data, but other data remains hidden. This is a brilliant feature.
Retailing between $100 - $160 depending on capacity and encryption, the Aegis Padlock drive is remarkably cheap considering the features and security. If you travel, have something to protect, or even something to hide, the Aegis drive is probably your best bet.
