Mobile Phones

I guess it was just a matter of time before ads made their way to our cell phones. The Wall Street Journal says that Yahoo and go2 Directory Systems have announced a deal to put Yahoo-sponsored listings on the go2 Directory local search site that is carried by three of the largest cellular carriers, Cingular, Verizon, and Sprint.
Sponsored listings will appear in the local search results at the go2 site when users search for local movie times, restaurants and so on. Reportedly the click through rates of these ads are 3-5% which would put them on par with click through rates on the Web. It could be worse, at least they are not spamming us with text messages, yet.
