Acer's new TravelMate C310 convertible tablet
At the other end of the tablet scale (from this), we have this new monster from Acer.
- 14.1-inch XGA display
- Sonoma Centrino with Pentium M
- DDR2 SDRAM
- GeForce Go 6200 graphics
- 802.11 b/g
- Bluetooth
- Gigabit Ethernet
- dual-layer DVD burner
- 80 or 100GB hard drive
- 4-in-1 card reader
- magnesium chassis
- 8.5-hour battery (claimed)
OK, so the battery life looks a bit on the spurious side, but doesn't it always? This is a desktop replacement that also works as a tablet - quite a different target market to the Fujitsu Lifebook we mentioned earlier. Nice price too - starting from about US$1700.

These table/PC hybrids are a godsend for contractors, desingers and other business people who have to collect information/make presentations at widely scattered locations but also need a full-featured PC. ACER should target this segment.
