500 Miles Off A 5 Minute Charge
Filed in archive General Cool Stuff by Dameon Welch-Abemathy on September 5, 2007

The biggest problem with electric cars to date has been the ability to store the electricity to power the car. Even Hybrid cars like the Toyota prius
employ many large lead-acid batteries. Not only do those batteries weigh a lot, they take a long time to charge and are an environmental disaster waiting to happen.EEStor's system is essentially an ultracapacitor, a battery-like device that stores and releases energy quickly. Capacitors have been around since 1745, but they have never been able to store and release the amount of energy necessary to power, say, a mobile phone, much less a car.
However, if EEStor's technology is what they say it is, this will change everything in the world of electronics.
